PRIVACY POLICY

I, Simon Pegler, am registered as a sole trader, operating as SPs and Qs Proofreading, offering freelance proofreading and light copy-editing and services to a variety of clients.

This privacy policy describes what data I require and how I use it. 

This privacy policy was last updated on 9 April 2018.

 

What information do I collect from you and why?

When you contact me, I request the following:

·       your name

·       your email address

·       project details and sample (not always required at this stage)

 

 

If we proceed to work together, I collect the following additional information:

·       postal address to be used on invoices to fulfil my contractual obligations to HMRC (the UK tax authority)

·       file(s) required for the work

 

Where do I store the data?

Emails are stored on my password-protected email account. 

Work files are stored in password-protected cloud-based storage in addition to on a hard disk, unless you have requested for them to be deleted.

How long do I keep the data for?

To comply with HMRC your personal data is retained for a minimum of seven years.

 

Your work files are also retained for the same period of time, unless requested otherwise, in which case I am happy to delete them as soon as work has been returned to you. You can request that these files are deleted at any time.

Do I share your data?

Aside from any data I am obliged to share for security or legal reasons, I do not share your data with anyone.

If you agree to provide a testimonial for my website, I will include the name and details you provide.

I do not subcontract work, nor do I discuss your project online with third parties. 

I use Google Analytics to track traffic volume to my website and see what search terms are being used. I do not place cookies on your computer, nor do I use any paid-for Google advertising features to gain personal data.

 

Your rights over your data

You can request for your personal data to be erased at any time. This does not include any data that I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
